October 23 – November 23 2025
Artist Ebba Svensson Awarded the Åke Andrén Foundation Art Scholarship 2025
Ebba Svensson (b. 1997 in Vejby) lives and works in Stockholm. She graduated from the Royal Institute of Art in Stockholm in 2023. Her work is currently on view in the exhibition Sly at Galleri Magnus Karlsson. She has also held solo exhibitions at Hällevi Kännungs, Galleri Magnus Karlsson (2024), Market Art Fair, Galleri Magnus Karlsson, Liljevalchs (2024), Vid dammens rand at Nässjö Konsthall (2024), and Lummigt broada brus at Galleri Mejan (2022). In addition, she has participated in numerous group exhibitions.
The Jury’s Statment:
“Ebba Svensson’s exploratory painting is fascinating, idiosyncratic, and experimental. Her often large-scale, monumental compositions convey a strong sense of materiality, sometimes created using a combination of oil paint, pigment, and dry pastel on Harlem-primed cotton canvas. Her work reflects elements of post-impressionism while remaining firmly rooted in the contemporary.”
This year’s jury consisted of artist Paul Fägerskiöld, curator Agneta von Zeipel, and museum director Karin Sidén (Prins Eugens Waldemarsudde).
The scholarship will be awarded on October 22, 2025, at Prins Eugens Waldemarsudde. A selection of works by the artist will be on view in the Bernadotte Room from October 23 to November 23, 2025.
The Åke Andrén Foundation Art Scholarship was established in 2012 and has since been awarded annually to a promising young artist. In 2025, the scholarship amount is SEK 750,000.
