With spring as its companion, the museum opens the exhibition In Bloom – Art & Botany. In this grand presentation, art, botany and the blooming come together in a sensual tribute to the beauty, symbolism and role of flowers in our art and cultural history – from the 16th century to the present day.

“Next to art, I believe flowers bring me the greatest joy,” wrote the museum’s founder Prince Eugen in 1901. In these words, he expressed not only a personal passion, but also a way of life where art and the blooming world were intimately intertwined. Today, the combination of art and nature – indoors and out – remains a vital and inseparable part of Waldemarsudde’s identity.

Rooted in this spirit, the museum presents a thematic exhibition that is both joyful and insightful, exploring floral motifs in art, design, and botany from the16th century to today. Nearly 200 works are featured, including paintings, sculpture, photography, installations, decorative arts, and magnificent botanical volumes. The exhibition draws from Waldemarsudde’s own rich collections as well as generous loans from museums and private collections.

Among the artists represented are Rachel Ruysch, Maria Sibylla Merian, Hilma af Klint, Lena Cronqvist, Cecilia Edefalk, Robert Mapplethorpe, and Lilla Tabasso.

In Bloom – Art & Botany is not just an exhibition, but a total work of art — where nature, art, and history come together in guided tours, workshops, talks, music, food, and drink.
