Works from the Waldemarsudde Collections – In Bloom and Nature
March 31 – September 13 2026
As a complement to the exhibition In Bloom. Art & Botany, a large number of works from the Museum Collections are displayed on the mezzanine level and on the studio floor of the Mansion, all centered on the theme of blooms and nature. The presentation on the mezzanine includes captivating floral still lifes, portraits featuring floral elements and interesting nature motifs from the late 19th century to the mid-20th century.
On the studio floor of the Mansion, the focus is on nature and landscape motifs from the Museum Collections, where some works depict wildflowers as well as flowering trees and shrubs. The landscape paintings and depictions of nature on the studio floor have been created by Swedish artists in the spirit of plein air painting, mood painting and early Modernism. Here, well-known works by Prince Eugen, Karl Nordström, Richard Bergh and Bruno Liljefors are shown in dialogue with a number of recent acquisitions by the landscape painters Anna Nordgren and Charlotte Wahlström. The latter works have been donated to the Museum in recent years and help to strengthen Waldemarsudde’s Collections with paintings by two prominent female artists who received considerable attention in their time but are rarely noticed today. The presentation also includes a selection of captivating works by the distinguished artist Ivan Aguéli, as well as a number of expressive paintings by the colour expressionists Isaac Grünewald and Sigrid Hjertén.
